Michael Snyder-Barker, MSW, LMSW
“ I have a variety of experience to pull from. I started out working in a crisis center and learned the value of listening and responding empathetically to folks who were struggling with intense emotional pain and distress.
I was employed as a case manager at a community mental health center and learned about special needs of the severely mentally and emotionally impaired.
After earning my Master's degree, I have worked with people whose defense mechanisms have taken them in directions that they have regretted and who needed/wanted guidance toward healthier resolution of their life challanges. Many of those had struggled with painful childhood experiences and feelings of hopelessness, helplessness, and oftentimes felt absolutely lost. I have helped many find a new, healthier direction in their lives.
I also have been employed as a college counselor, helping students work through the transitions they have struggled with during their college experience. Many may not have graduated without the counseling interventions.
I bring to the counseling experience personal and professional experiences that have helped lost and struggling people on a new road in their lives.”
